Upcoming Events: Two Virtual Gatherings on Organic Policy and the Future of Organic Agriculture
The National Organic Coalition (NOC) invites you to join us for two important upcoming events—both free and open to the public—designed to inform, engage, and unite the organic community around the critical issues shaping organic policy and standards today.
Part I: Pre-NOSB Meeting
📅 April 28, 2025
🕐 1:00–3:00 PM ET
📍 Virtual (Register here)
Held twice a year ahead of each National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) meeting, the Pre-NOSB Meeting is a unique opportunity for the organic community to gather, hear from diverse voices, and prepare for the upcoming NOSB discussions.
This spring’s meeting will include:
A policy overview and issue briefing from Steve Ela, NOC’s NOSB Specialist and former NOSB Chair, highlighting key topics the Board will consider at its April 29–May 1 meeting.
A panel discussion on one of the most debated items on the agenda: what materials ("feedstocks") should be allowed in organic compost. Expect insight from farmers, scientists, and stakeholders directly impacted by these decisions.
Whether you’re following NOSB topics closely or just need the highlights, we’ll break down the key issues and share NOC’s perspective on what’s at stake.
Part II: Organic Summit – Policy, Progress & Farmer Voices in Action
📅 May 20, 2025
🕐 1:00–4:00 PM ET
📍 Virtual (Register here)
Our Organic Summit picks up where the NOSB meeting leaves off—with a strategic and solutions-focused dialogue about the future of organic. This gathering is a call to action for the entire organic community to align around shared priorities, especially in light of ongoing federal funding freezes and cuts to USDA staffing and programs.
The event will include:
A DC organic policy update from NOC Policy Director Steve Etka
A farmer panel sharing firsthand insights on how policy decisions impact farms and rural communities
A panel on grassroots advocacy strategies to protect and advance organic agriculture
Additional speakers and session details will be announced soon.
Both events are free and virtual. We hope you’ll join us to stay informed, speak out, and support the future of organic.
