Growing Organic Pathways—Building a Stronger Organic Supply Chain

On July 9, 2025, the National Organic Coalition (NOC) brought together national partners for a dynamic virtual session—“Growing Organic Pathways: Connecting Farmers and Handlers to Organic Opportunity.” Supported by USDA’s Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP), this gathering focused on unlocking market growth for organic producers and strengthening the supply chain from farm to table.

Speakers from the Organic Trade Association, Rodale Institute, Wolf & Associates, and Organic Agronomy Training Service shared powerful insights, tools, and new resources designed to help farmers, processors, and handlers thrive in a growing but often fragmented organic marketplace.

A full report is a available here, and you can access the session recording, resources, and toolkits here: www.nationalorganiccoalition.org/2025-growing-organic-markets-topp-meeting.

Key takeaways:

  • Organic sales are booming, outpacing the total food market thanks to strong demand from Millennial and Gen Z consumers.

  • New toolkits, like the Farmer’s Toolkit from Wolf & Associates and Rodale Institute, will help align production with demand and highlight domestic growth opportunities for high-potential crops.

  • Rodale’s national events are connecting farmers and buyers across the country with workshops, buyer showcases, and virtual advisor calls grounded in regional needs.

  • Handlers and processors remain a bottleneck in the supply chain. OATS is addressing this by developing plain-language, mobile-friendly educational materials and videos to demystify organic certification and strengthen operations.

From data-informed decision-making to infrastructure solutions and relationship-building, the session underscored a clear message: we can increase opportunities for U.S. farms and busineses to meet rising organic demand—but only by working together across regions and roles.
